We spoke with Alexandra Piątkowska, former Polish Ambassador to Chile and currently Polish Ambassador to Argentina, about the celebration of Polish Constitution Day.

Poland has two national holidays and one of them is the day of the adoption of the constitution; they were pioneers, as they were the first to have a democratic constitution in all of Europe.
The Constitution of May 3, approved in 1791, is considered the first Constitution in Europe and the second worldwide, after that of the United States.
Some of its fundamental characteristics were: the introduction of equality between the common population and the nobility, abolition of parliamentary institutions such as the "liberum veto" and the placement of peasants under government protection.
It focused on supplanting the existing disorder, promoted by some of the country's magnates, with a more democratic version of constitutional monarchy.
