Its history is an ode to the spirit of each neighbor who recognizes their own identity as they grow and learn to coexist with other cultures and people within the flexibility that time provides.
History of the Neighborhood
In 1896, at Avenida Italia corner Francisco Bilbao (currently Factoría Italia), Giaccinto Girardi founded Sombrerería Girardi.
On Av. Santa Isabel, before the metro station of the same name, the Luchetti pasta factory was located. At that time this sector was called the red neighborhood and Chinatown.
On Jesuitas street, the Italian textile factory Sermini was established, currently called "El Castillito Sermini"; where its owner himself designed the house and it was one of the first to have sewage in the commune; his owner was also a pioneer in establishing the first daycare in Providencia, dedicated to women who worked in his factory; and who previously bought and subsequently rented the adjacent houses to the families of his workers, so they could live near work.
Culturally: around 1937 Teatro Italia was created, and subsequently two Italian circuses were set up on Av. Italia; one of these circuses belonged to the Valsasnini family, where Teatro de la Aurora previously stood;
in the 1960s, one of the presidents of the republic lived in the neighborhood — today it is a House-Museum.
In the 1960s and 70s, the CIC-Rossen mattress factory and a notable watch shop were established; later it functioned as a warehouse for the gift and card store Village.
In the 1970s, Barrio Caupolicán began to take shape through antique dealers and artists who began settling on Caupolicán street in the Ñuñoa commune.

It is an honor for us at Visibles World Creative Agency and Media Magazine to have helped promote our neighborhood where we were born; this was our first media and private commercial platform, founded by our general manager, Gabriel Agustín Garay Opaso, and we created it to present, promote and give visibility to our neighbors, organizations, businesses, the Italian heritage in Chile and the tourism of the area.
BARRIO ITALIA TV COMMERCIAL GUIDE:
Since 2009 we had an innovative digital guide to businesses, places to visit and recommendations for activities in the neighborhood; although over time the neighborhood became so dynamic and combined with the high turnover of commerce at that time, we made the decision to discontinue our guide in order to ensure that what you found on our platform was effectively current.
Pamela Jara Pérez, prominent Chilean actress, dynamic woman, entrepreneur and mother, was our official platform presenter, together with our entire team of journalists, editors, photographers and the other section presenters who supported her — we formed a great Visibles World Media Magazine team.

Barrio Santa Isabel, which contains Barrio Italia, is located between the communes of Providencia and Ñuñoa; the closest metro is Santa Isabel station and you can access it from Av. Salvador with Av. Francisco Bilbao to Avenida Irarrázaval.
