(Chile – Brazil. June 24, 2021) A mutual cooperation agreement to prepare both organizations and strengthen their active participation in the reorganization of tourism activity is the positive impact that the agreement signed between the Association of Tourism Journalists APTUR Chile and the World Organization of Tourism Journalism OMPT brings to the actions the sector needs for its regeneration in Ibero-America.
The agreement was signed at a virtual meeting attended by the boards of both organizations. It was signed for OMPT by its director general Ziomar Santos, who was in Brazil, and for APTUR Chile by its national president Dalma Díaz.
In the document, both organizations commit to working together, providing each other with professional advice, communication support and facilities in courses, among other actions.
Dalma Díaz Pinto, president of APTUR Chile, praised the agreement, stating that "this is an example that alliances can be made that concretely serve our respective memberships, with an impact on Ibero-American tourism activity as a whole. It is a milestone in the history of Ibero-American tourism, because it supports our members with tools to respond to the needs of countries, territories, companies and destinations to have strategic, specialized, digital and effective communication to reorganize and prepare for what is coming", she specified.
Ziomar Santos, director general of OMPT, shared the joy and commitment that this new step implies, noting that "with great happiness we announce this alliance and collaboration pact. It is very important. Congratulations to Miguel and Dalma. This alliance, at times like these of difficulty for tourism journalism, not only in Brazil but throughout Latin America, is fundamental for the exchange of growth and for collaboration on all matters in which journalists have relevance", he pointed out.
Marcelo Moraga, communications director of APTUR Chile, added that "this agreement embodies the value of collaborative work, which the new way of understanding and doing tourism needs. Without borders, so that communication professionals can participate proactively, with our knowledge and professional capabilities, in the management of destinations, for their empowerment, the education of their communities and decentralized promotion with a sustainable tourism identity", he stated.
Finally, Miguel Ledhesma, secretary general of OMPT, highlighted: "We are celebrating ten years of continuous work and how good it is to be able to make agreements that are concrete, specific and aimed at doing things that are really worthwhile, that really matter, that will benefit both organizations and, of course, tourism journalism in general and tourism", he concluded.
The agreement signed between APTUR Chile and OMPT is in force from June 17, 2021 until December 31, 2023, with the possibility of being renewed and including new points approved by both organizations.
