The activity was led by the president of the trade association, Juan Esteban Musalem, who was the first to address the attendees, extending his greetings and thanks to all those who have collaborated with the institution throughout its existence.

For his part, the Political Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Zhou Yi, expressed a warm greeting to the audience, praising CHICIT's efforts in deepening the economic and trade ties between Chile and China.

The central presentation of the Nineteenth Assembly was given by two distinguished professionals, strongly linked to China both through their work and their personal interests. Ignacio Tornero, senior partner at the Carey law firm, who headed the firm's China Desk; and Nicolás Ibaibariaga, business engineer, who served as Head of the Bci bank representative office in Shanghai. Both speakers noted that while in 2009 there were around 400 million Internet users in China, by 2019 that figure had more than doubled, with 100 percent of that universe connected via mobile phone. China's technological progress in recent years has been astonishing, while its inhabitants have become the population that adapts fastest to new digital ecosystems, they concluded.
