A Journey of Challenges and Reflections
Born in Belgium, Alain embarked on a unique journey blending science and the humanities — taking him from the College Saint-Pierre in Uccle to the Universite Catholique de Louvain. His story took a radical turn when he arrived in Chile in 1989, initially for two years, but he was so enchanted by Chile and its culture that he stayed.
Alain has a deep spirit of service — but some of his greatest challenges began in 2008 when he was forced to leave a company he had built over more than fifteen years. This was compounded on a personal level in 2009 by a serious illness of his daughter, and the emotional upheaval was completed by the earthquake in Chile in 2010.

Singular Life and the Triangle of Illusions
In 2015, Alain shared his philosophical vision in "Singular Life and the Triangle of Illusions." It is not simply a book — it is a testament to his journey and a manual for deconstructing the illusions that distance us from genuine happiness. Alain introduces Pointfulness — a life philosophy that goes beyond conventional Mindfulness practices. Pointfulness is a return to singularity: living in the here and now without the attachments of illusions. We have chosen to live and expand our consciousness by experiencing life through the senses — and this entails encountering many stimuli, thoughts and influences, both internal and external.
Metaphorically similar to a Russian matryoshka, we live within our own system of beliefs and consciousness — each of which, at every moment, gives us the great gift of choosing whether to maintain, transform, change or step out of them.
The diverse perspectives and unique ways of living, within an infinite diversity of approaches to life, in a collective experience in the "here and now," rooted in our abundant earth, invite us to rise above our own self-limiting beliefs and assumptions about how to live — and both Alain's vision and our own are valid for living and perhaps reflecting on our own path, our way of experiencing our emotions and what we share with others, even without realizing it.
