Eurochile celebrated its 24 years of existence at Club Manquehue

With a distinguished ceremony, the Eurochile Business Foundation celebrated its 24th anniversary, recognizing two key figures for their contribution to the development of business and technological cooperation between Chile and the European Union.
A night to highlight alliances and collaboration
On Wednesday, June 28, Eurochile gathered representatives of the government, the diplomatic and business worlds at a commemorative dinner at Club Manquehue. The event, which brought together nearly 200 attendees, was the stage for the presentation of the 2017 Eurochile Award to Benita Ferrero-Waldner, president of the Euroamérica Foundation, and to Carlos Álvarez, director of InvestChile.
José Aravena, executive director of Eurochile, welcomed those present, recalling the foundation's beginnings and its commitment to creating networks that drive exchanges of knowledge, technology and opportunities between Chile and the European Union.
For her part, Stella Zervoudaki, ambassador of the European Union, highlighted the positive impact of the Association Agreement between both regions. She also recognized Eurochile's role as a key ally, capable of building bridges of dialogue that strengthen bi-regional relations.
2017 Eurochile Awards
The president of the Eurochile Foundation, Vicente Caruz, led the presentation of the recognition to the awardees. When introducing Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Caruz highlighted her distinguished diplomatic career and her dedication to strengthening ties between Europe and Latin America.
Ferrero-Waldner, former EU Commissioner for External Relations and Trade and current president of the Euroamérica Foundation, gave thanks for the award, recalling her historic connection with Chile and Eurochile. "I have always considered the business sector a fundamental engine for the development of any country", she noted.
Meanwhile, when introducing Carlos Álvarez, Caruz underscored his extensive experience in public policy, innovation and the promotion of foreign investment. Álvarez highlighted Eurochile's value as a strategic partner in the transfer of good practices and in generating opportunities for Chilean companies in the European sphere.
Eurochile and the commitment to sustainability
The ceremony closed with remarks by the Minister of the Environment, Marcelo Mena, who emphasized the common positions of Chile and the EU on environmental matters. He also highlighted the joint work between the ministry and Eurochile in the design of the Environmental Reference Center, a project aimed at generating reliable data to drive sustainable investments.
"Eurochile's role in the transfer of knowledge and technology is key to fostering green growth that supports environmental standards of excellence", said Mena, reaffirming the Chilean government's commitment to sustainable public policy.
With this anniversary, the Eurochile Foundation reaffirms its mission to be a bridge between Chile and the European Union, fostering strategic alliances and generating impact in key areas such as innovation, technology and sustainability.
